What is CBET Planner? A simple guide for TVET trainers

CBET Planner is an online platform, built by Marzley Tech Solutions, that helps trainers in Kenya’s TVET institutions prepare their Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) documents quickly. Instead of typing every learning plan and session plan from scratch, a trainer starts from the curriculum and the platform drafts the documents in the right structure.

Why it was built

CBET is the approach used across TVET colleges, vocational training centres and national polytechnics in Kenya. It focuses on what learners can actually do at the end of a unit. That is great for learners, but it comes with a lot of paperwork for trainers. Every unit needs a learning plan, session plans, information sheets and assessment tools, and they all have to match the curriculum.

Trainers told us they were spending evenings and weekends formatting documents instead of preparing lessons. CBET Planner was built to give that time back.
