Almost every job, business and government service in Kenya now involves a phone or computer. The good news: the most useful digital skills can be learned free, in your own time, even on a phone. Here are ten worth learning this year, with free lessons for each.
1. Online safety
Strong passwords, two-step verification on WhatsApp and Gmail, and spotting M-Pesa and job scams. This protects your money before anything else. Learn online safety.

How to learn without getting overwhelmed
- Pick one skill to start with, based on your goal (job, business or side income).
- Study 30–60 minutes a day and practise with real tasks.
- Build something you can show: a budget sheet, a poster, a web page.
- Add each skill to your CV with a link to your work.
